Although the hotel is in a good location for the harbor and for sightseeing, it
was not the best of places to stay for too long.
I travelled with a friend and we had separate rooms on the 1st and 2nd floor.
All i can say was that the rooms where like night and day in quality. The first
floor room was in need of refurbishment and a thorough clean. Furniture was
broken and walls scuffed. The balcony overlooking the courtyard was covered in
bird droppings and silver fish ran across the floor in the main room. The walls
are paper thin which meant the party in the adjacent room felt like it was in my
room. Every time the door next door slammed my headboard moved.
The second floor room was clean with all the things you'd expect in a hotel
room. It was the sort of room i was expecting, nothing too fancy but clean and
comfortable.
The hotel staff at check in where fine and sorted out the party noise quickly.
The breakfast was okay and the service great.
All i would say is, book this for a short stay but no longer and make sure your
room is not on the 1st floor.

The location of this hotel was nice. The lobby and restaurant nice. But the
rooms are a bit outdated and small. We had a room on the 2nd floor and the
minute we got out of elevator it looked pretty old. The blue steel doors very
outdated. We stayed 2 nights and usually when they clean the room they leave new
soaps and shampoos. Well this hotel did not. I had to call and ask for some as
they took the bar of soap that was in the room. Could not figure out how to use
the air conditioner so just opened a window. That helped as it was a bit stuffy
in there. Since our room overlooked the street, not the harbor we didn't get as
much of a breeze as we could have. People on street a bit noisy but after 11 was
fine. Luckily I don't think we encountered any bed bugs. Its been a week and
nothing has shown up yet. Maybe they fixed this problem (HOPE SO!). The price
was great for Victoria also - most hotels much more expensive in that area - we
wanted place close to ferry since we were not bringing car.
Thing i highly recommend for Victoria - Whale watching cruise with Eagle Wings.
They were awesome and we saw lots of whales - Orcas and gray. Butchart Gardens
was beautiful and the Royal BC Museum was one of the best Museum's I've been to.
I'm not a huge museum person so me liking this one says something.

This is one of many hotels in the inner harbor area of Victoria. i provides easy
walking
access to the city.
The Huntingdon Hotel is older. From the front is looks really nice and the
office and lobby is at the rear of the building. The lobby and hallways to the
room are dingy and dark. Smells a bit like the restaurant/pub in the lobby. The
room is very spartan, but comfortable. I was provided free parking as part of a
promotion. Moving around the hotel would be challenging for someone needing a
wheelchair. There ia n elevator, but it does not stop at the first level. To go
form the lobby to the first level, there are steps and you have to pick up a
suitcase which may be challenging for some.
There are many choices of hotels in the area. Look for deals. The nearby
luxurious Hotel Pacific, offered a room for the same price as the Huntingdon for
the last two nights we stayed. We were pleased to find the deal.

My husband, my parents, and I stayed at the Huntingdon Hotel in Victoria, BC. We
had separate rooms, but both parties were equally disappointed. My husband and
I’s room was on the ground floor, and it was very, very loud, and I did not feel
safe. I was there to run the RVM; therefore, a good sleep was imperative to my
run the next day. I could hear drunks on the street screaming and hollering into
the night, which not only kept me awake, but worried me of break-ins.
My parents stayed in a suite with a harbor view. Although they had a more
expensive room, they did not enjoy their stay anymore than my husband and I. My
parents opted for the suite in order to make dinner and breakfast at the hotel.
When you start a race at 7:30 in the morning, it is difficult to go out for
breakfast beforehand. When we arrived we learned that although a suite with a
kitchenette was booked, there is an extra charge to utilize the amenities in the
room. When we arrived the power to the kitchenette was turned off, and the
cupboards storing the dishes were locked. We felt this was cash gauging, and
were very offended by the extra charge.
Beware of the pictures of the suites and rooms the Huntingdon Hotel advertises
on their homepage. These pictures are not realistic to what you are purchasing.
The pictures on-line must be show suites only, as neither of our rooms were
comparable to the pictures presented on-line. For what you receive the prices of
the rooms are overpriced. The furniture is outdated and cheap. The Huntingdon
advertises itself as a boutique hotel; however, I would have been happier with a
Best Western. I am running the RVM again this year, and I will not be staying at
this hotel.

This hotel is good value for money, and the staff are really friendly and
helpful. What's not so good is that some of the furniture and decor has seen
better days. I also found it a bit strange that the tea and coffee making
facilities were in the bathroom (next to the sink, which had a temperamental tap
that soaked everything!).

Good location, only about a quarter mile away from the Legislative Building and
the Fairmont Empress Hotel. Clean room. Parking available on the street (I think
for a limited time) and also beneath the hotel (for $).
When we arrived, internet access in the room was down. Hotel Clerk asked, "Do
you really need access from your room?" (Yes, that was advertised). It was not
fixed for 24 hours. Had to go out to the dining area to use the internet.
Ate at the restaurant in the hotel. Service was EXTREMELY slow. All the
customers that day complained about the length of time it took for the food to
come out of the kitchen. We ordered a smoothie and a bowl of oatmeal--it took 45
minutes, and it wasn't even that crowded in the restaurant. When we complained
to the waitress, the manager came over to apologize, made a few excuses about
the cook, and that was it (no offer of discounts, or anything). It still took
another 10 minutes for the food to come out. When it did, the oatmeal was more
like the topping of some pie--dry oats soaked in milk and brown sugar. I
couldn't eat it -- it was way too sweet. Luckily, the waitress, who was already
extremely frustrated by the lack of support from the management and the cook,
told us that she was going to give our meals for free.
This hotel is nothing to write home about. Best Western is on the next block
over, closer to the sights.
